A Comparative Analysis Between Diesel Power Plants vs Solar Power Plants in Bangladesh
Keywords:
Diesel Power Plants, Solar Power Plants, Comparative AnalysisAbstract
One of South Asia's economies with the quickest growth rates is Bangladesh. Bangladesh's economy has risen at an average yearly pace of about 6.7% over the last ten years, which is higher than the growth rate of many other Asian economies. It is common knowledge that electricity is essential for eradicating poverty, sustaining economic growth, building infrastructure, and maintaining national security. To meet its socioeconomic growth target, Bangladesh must address the obstacles to faster growth provided by inadequate access to dependable and affordable power, limited supply of serviced land, rising urbanization, vulnerability to climate change and natural catastrophes, etc. In this study, a survey was done in a 50MW diesel power plant & a 3MW solar power plant and compared and cost analysis of both plants based on the obtained data & parameters from the plant's respective personnel. This research aims to identify an effective and fruitful power generation system with long-term benefits regarding Bangladesh & Global context. This study concludes the prospect of a power generation system and the power generation cost, considering Bangladesh's current economic growth, environment & resources. Both solar & diesel plants are costly for a country like Bangladesh; however, After installation and operation, solar power produces no greenhouse emissions and is pollution-free. Reduce dependence on foreign oil and fossil fuels, which is highly capital intensive. On the contrary, diesel plants provide instant support and meet the country's power demand to maintain economic growth and social development. This study will contribute to the importance, impact & viability of the environment, Bangladesh's Power Sector and the current economy.
