Abstract

The increasing complexity and frequency of cyberattacks on critical infrastructure necessitate the adoption of advanced defense mechanisms. This paper examines the impact of Artificial Intelligence (AI) on the effectiveness of cyber defense systems, focusing on enhanced detection and response capabilities in critical infrastructure such as energy grids, transportation networks, and healthcare systems. AI-powered models, particularly machine learning algorithms and neural networks, are transforming traditional security systems by automating threat detection, analyzing large datasets in real-time, and implementing adaptive response strategies. The study presents a detailed analysis of AI's role in mitigating risks, improving response times, and reducing false positives. Through a combination of supervised and unsupervised learning techniques, the research demonstrates how AI enhances the ability to detect sophisticated cyber threats, such as zero-day attacks and advanced persistent threats (APTs). By integrating AI-driven analytics with traditional cybersecurity frameworks, critical infrastructure can be better equipped to withstand evolving cyber threats. This paper offers insights into the deployment of AI in real-world scenarios and highlights the challenges and opportunities for the future of cyber defense.
