Data privacy and security are paramount concerns in e-commerce, where vast amounts of sensitive
customer information are collected, processed, and stored. Modern database solutions play a
crucial role in safeguarding this data against unauthorized access, breaches, and misuse. This paper
examines the challenges and opportunities associated with data privacy and security in ecommerce and explores the role of modern database technologies in addressing these concerns.
Through a review of existing literature and case studies, we discuss key considerations in designing
secure e-commerce databases, including encryption, access control, and compliance with
regulatory requirements. Additionally, we highlight emerging trends such as homomorphic
encryption and differential privacy, which offer innovative approaches to preserving privacy while
enabling data analysis and insights generation. By synthesizing insights from academia, industry,
and regulatory bodies, this paper aims to provide a comprehensive understanding of data privacy
and security issues in e-commerce and offer practical recommendations for businesses to mitigate
risks and enhance customer trust.
