Abstract

This paper explores the role of Artificial Intelligence (AI) in ensuring that Identity and Access Management (IAM) practices comply with the Health Insurance Portability and Accountability Act (HIPAA). As healthcare systems increasingly digitize and adopt advanced technologies, the need for robust IAM solutions to protect sensitive patient information has become critical. AI-driven IAM systems enhance security by automating access controls, monitoring user behaviors in real-time, and detecting potential threats. These systems improve compliance with HIPAA's strict regulations by reducing human error, managing privileged access, and providing continuous risk assessments. The study evaluates AI's capabilities in addressing key HIPAA requirements, including ensuring the confidentiality, integrity, and availability of protected health information (PHI), and preventing unauthorized access. The findings highlight AI's ability to strengthen security, mitigate breaches, and streamline compliance processes in healthcare IAM frameworks.
